Şahin: We have concerns about state of emergency

After rectified in National Assembly, making statements over SOE (State of emergency), vice president of HUDA PAR Sait Şahin indicated that Turkey had some bitter experiences with SOE in the past therefore we have concerns, added that during struggle against Parallel State Structure government must be very attentive to prevent any sufferings that some innocent persons may have.

Saying that unequivocally Gulen group is behind the attempted coup, Şahin remarked that but they weren’t alone with that but America and Israel were behind the coup, too.

Şahin said “attempted coup was orchestrated under the guidance of Gulen group and there is no any doubt about that. Because when we regard the evidences emerged, relation network and place they get the commands leave no room for doubt. However, does Gulen group act alone? There are some other unmistakable evidences. Gulen’s residing in America for years; his acts, displaying a clear accordance with America and Israel, and his other relations with some institutions in Israel bring our mind that America and Israel are behind this failed coup as well. As we know the coups occur in this geography are not fed by their own dynamics. Behind all coups, which succeeded, were backed by foreign powers.

“Turkey’s SOE experiences are unsavory”

Indicating that Turkey’s SOE experiences are unsavory and under normal conditions SOE is something undesirable, Şahin said “SOE is commonly something undesirable. But Turkey hasn’t been through normal processes lately. Turkey’s SOE experiences are unsavory unfortunately. Unfortunately, 90s very gruesome times passed by under SOE. Those were the years while people were being terrorized by state. Those were the years lawlessness rule the country. One of the best practices of AK Party was lifting the SOE in 2002. Then society could breathe. And people could sense the taste of freedom. Yet, the government needs to be very attentive in this issue.”

“SOE grants substantial exploitable power to law enforcement officers”

Şahin “unfortunately we have come to a time of SOE again after Gulen affiliated coup attempt. However we cannot compare this with the previous one’s practices. Country goes under an emergency period. So, government wants to act fast during this period. Namely, government doesn’t want to waste time with normal procedure of passing the bills in parliament but tries to get them by warranting ministries in order to struggle with this structure with decree laws. This can be understandable. But, we have concerns about this because state has criminal records with its execution in the past. SOE grants substantial exploitable power to law enforcement authorities. So as to avoid any sufferings, they have to act very cautious. That’s to say, the state has old intel-info and secondhand memory at that point. So, a new and accurate research must be performed to prevent new sufferings.” (ILKHA)
