“Responsibility of the guarantor countries is reminded”
ANKARA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Müftüoğlu stated that following the chemical attack of the regime planes on Idlib, Russia and Iran Embassies to Ankara were immediately invited, their responsibilities reminding of 2 guarantor countries to them.
Ambassador Hüseyin Müftüoğlu, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answered a question about the chemical attack carried out by the regime on the Khan Sheikhoun district of Idlib and responsibilities of triple ceasefire monitoring mechanism.
Müftüoğlu pointed out that Turkiye has made intensive efforts to prevent the repetition of violations and continuation of ceasefire since on 30 December 2016 in Syria in general, “In order to determine the violations of the ceasefire and to prevent them from repeating, a truce monitoring mechanism was established with Russia at the bilateral level and the information gathered by this mechanism was shared with the UN and the countries of the International Syrian Support Group.”
Reminiscent of Iran's announcement that it is the guarantor of the official agreement at the 14th-15th March 2017 meeting in the context of the steps taken to strengthen the ceasefire in the Astana meetings, Müftüoğlu said, “During the ceasefire mechanism and the strengthening of this, our country effort for opposition groups on the side of the firefighting party to comply with the agreement , Russia and Iran have also undertaken the responsibility of ensuring that the Syrian regime and its supporters comply with the obligations arising from the ceasefire.” (ILKHA)
