650-year-old Zeynel Bey Shrine started moving

The tomb of Zeynel Bey, one of the most important historical monuments of Hasankeyf, has started to be moved to the New Cultural Park Area with special system. Zeynel Bey Mausoleum will be the first historical monument to be moved in Hasankeyf.

The project, which costs about 16 million TL, carries the turbine by putting it on a special vehicle platform named as the Powerful Modular Transporter (SPMT) which can turn 360 degree around itself.

For a year and a half, while carrying out work for the transport of the Zeynel Bey Shrine, the operation of transporting a thousand tons of Tomb began from the early hours of the morning.

While the transport of the Tomb is estimated to take about 7 hours, the shipment will be carried for about 2 kilometers on the way to the tomb.

History of Zeynel Bey Shrine

Zeynel Bey Shrine is the only work left by the ‘Ak-Qoyunlu’ in Hasankeyf in 1462-1482. It is stated that Zeynel Bey is the son of Uzun Hasan, the ruler of Ak-Qoyunlu, and lost his life in the Battle of Otlukbasi (1473 M.), which took place between Ak-Qoyunlu and Ottomans. (M. Fatih Akgül - ILKHA)
