ADIYAMAN - Expressing their reaction over mass media pointing Adiyaman as a target by covering news about the city, NGOs and Adiyaman people slam the news indicating as if Adiyaman was a stronghold for ISIS.

Stating that mass media targeting Adiyaman by covering news as if Adiyaman is a stronghold for ISIS because of the suicide bomber was from Adiyaman, Adiyaman people and NGO representatives slam the captions like “Again Adiyaman.”

Saying that people of Adiyaman feel uncomfortable  about Adiyaman that is known as a city of peace becoming a current issue related to terrorism in media, town people said that their concern gets high with the captions in national press, because they are being targeted.”

Adiyaman people and representatives expressed their concern to Ilke News Agency (ILKHA)

 “Some media outlets target our city”

Stating that, “Adiyaman has been harboring different identities in its structure throughout history; Turks, Kurds, Alevites and Sunnis has improved a culture live together” Fadil Akkus, head of IHH Adiyaman office, said that, “As we are people of this city, we would like peace, tranquility, stability in our city.”

Remarking that, “We have been affected seriously because of the civil war in Syria” Akkus said that,” Sadly; we have witnessed some attempts to decompose social unity and incite clashes in the city. Some of the national press institutions get involved this by targeting our city.”

“Some lay groundwork to create a clash environment”

Bilal Demir, head of Vahdet Der (Association for unity) said that Adiyaman is trying to be targeted over ISIS.

Demir said “Adiyaman is being posed as a center for ISIS by some ones. Some ones want Adiyaman which is a very peaceful city to be mentioned with terrorism and blood. Some news implying Adiyaman as a center of ISIS aims to lay groundwork for PKK and form a clash environment in the region.”

Demir also mentioned the raid against Vahdet Der conducted by Gulen movement police. Demir said that, “Elements in police department from Parallel state plotted this association with fixed up judges and made them sentenced. These young people are still in prisons.” (ILKHA)
