6.3 magnitude earthquake in Aegean
MUGLA - An earthquake of 6.3 magnitudes took place in the off of the Bodrum district of Muğla.
According to the information on the internet site of the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority [AFAD], an earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 6.3 in the vicinity of Mugla at 01.31 pm.
Muğla Governor Esengül Civelek said that according to the first determinations of the depression that occurred in Muğla’s off in waters of the Aegean Sea, there was no loss of life and property.
Bodrum Mayor Mehmet Kocadon said that Bodrum was exposed to the strong earthquake for the first time and said, “We really experienced such a strong earthquake for the first time in Bodrum. Thank God we have not reflected any bad news until now. I hope it will not be reflected. And there is a slump in the roads and landslides, and there was no information about the demolition of any houses, no casualties, which made us a little bit happy but we were very scared!”
Some areas of the sea level rise in the claims caused the panic among the people, and Bodrum State Hospital evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Bodrum District Governor also made warnings for the citizens to not enter the building. The gendarmerie and AFAD are continuing their exploration work in the area for damage assessment and precaution. (ILKHA)
