BATMAN - Syrian Bashir Rasul, who attained the third place in the world by participating in fight sports, wants to represent Turkiye in competitions by being taken as a citizenship.

Syrian Rasul wants to represent Turkiye in national competitions

The only request of the Syrian Bashir Rasul, who took refuge in Turkiye with his wife, who escaped from the city of Haseke in Syria, where Syria had experienced civil war, and participated in fight sports here and won the third place in the Kung Fu Wushu World Championship, is to represent Turkiye in national competitions. The biggest obstacle in front of Rasul is the inability to qualify for Turkish citizenship.

Rasul, father of a child, who took refuge in Turkiye about 5 years ago with his family, works as portage in a variety of Turkiye's provinces, living under difficult conditions, continues to live in a house he rents in Batman city.

Rasul, who was a teacher of physical education in Syria before the war and who held the Syrian championship in the Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) there, stated that he could not become a national sportsman in Syria because he was Kurdish.

Rasul, who started in ‘fighting sports’ in Turkiye, won the third place in the Kung Fu Wushu competition in Hasankeyf in 2015, stated that his only desire is the citizenship to be given and to represent Turkiye in national competitions.

Emphasizing that he wants to continue his half-life sports career here, Rasul wants the authorities to extend his brotherhood hand to him.

Rasul, who said that he got scores in various sports branches in Syria, said: “We escaped from Assad's persecution and came here in 2012. War came out and life became very difficult. I went to work in different jobs such as textiles. Now I continued to live as a portage. A teacher helped me, I continued my work in the gym, and I joined the Kung Fu Wushu World Championship, where I got the third place in the world.”

Rasul said that he liked and wanted to continue his sport and said, “I want to represent Turkiye in my sports branch. I love sport since childhood. I started with kick boxing in Syria. I have the championship at Kick Boxing, Thai Boxing, and straight boxing. I started to teach while I was young. I taught for 6 years. I also want to open a gym here. I want Turkiye to help me and I want to represent Turkiye in the future.” (M. Fatih Akgül - ILKHA)
