The US demands Barzani to postpone of referendum
NEWS CENTER - US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated that they have requested “postponing the independence referendum” from Iraqi Kurdistan President Masoud Barzani.
According to a statement made by the Iraqi Kurdistan Presidency, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spoke to President Masoud Barzani on the phone yesterday evening.
In the statement, it was reported that the referendum on independence and relations between Erbil and Baghdad were discussed.
Rex Tillerson thanked Barzani for the Kurdistan Region delegation to visit Baghdad in the near future for the settlement of problems between Erbil and Baghdad said in the statement.
Tillerson's demand for the postponement of the independence referendum on 25 September and the continuation of the road to dialogue suggests with Baghdad recorded in the statement, Barzani also emphasized that has made a great effort for the Kurdistan region to live with Iraq but couldn’t be successful, so that the people of Kurdistan will determine their own future for this reason.
