Imam Bedrettin Firat was transferred to neighboring city of Van via military helicopter for treatment, yet his condition is still critical.

Imam Bedrettin Firat’s car was shot by PKK militants who blocked the Semdinli - Yuksekova road late in the evening, after that Firat who was wounded heavily was transferred to Van via helicopter and started to receive treatment.

According to the reports, the incident occurred in yesterday evening in Karsiyaka neighborhood in the town of Semdinli. After lesson for teaching Quran, Imam Bedrattin Firat (24) was going to his home when his car was stopped by PKK members who were blocking the road of Semdinli – Yuksekova. Firat was raked over he was targeted by someone by long-barrel weapons while he was waiting in his car. Imam, wounded seriously, was taken to Semdinli State Hospital by some compatriots around. After he had taken immediate treatment in Semdinli State hospital, he was transferred to Van via military helicopter, yet his condition is still critical and has a risk of death.

And it is also reported that the wounded Imam is one of the members of the most crowded tribe of Herki and has no any relationship with any political party or religious group.

It is also reported from Hakkari Governor Office that a compatriot named S T. was also wounded in clashes between security forces and PKK members, transferred to Van to receive treatment. (ILKHA)
