Alcohol festival refused in Adana

The province governor refused to allow the Worldwide Alcohol Festival in Adana which usually takes place every year between 12-13 December.

The festival attracts many of the civil society institutions and the citizens in Adana but the province governor Mustafa Buyuk in a TV programme underlined that he will not allow this alcohol festival to take place in Adana this year.

Mustafa Buyuk remarked that alcohol commercials are illegal and organising such events promote alcohol so it will not be legal. He also stated that social and economical organisations should be organised instead of an alcohol festival.

Every year an alcohol festival is organised in Adana during 12-13 December near Ulu Mosque which always results in publics reaction. Some civil society organisations also underlined that promoting alcohol should not be allowed and authorities should take reasonable steps to refuse permission for such events. (ILKHA)
