BALIKESIR - According to the initial reports, it has been stated that 24 people have died as a result of a refugee boat sinking in Erdemit.

24 people were killed and 3 people were rescued alive as a result of a boat carrying refugees sinking in Edremit district of Balikesir, suggests preliminary reports.

A statement shared by the Coast Guard Command regarding the incident states that Coast Guard Boats and Helicopters were sent to search after a report of help to a group of refugees in Edremit at 6 am this morning.   

The statement further noted that 24 people were found dead and 3 people were rescued in the search.

Reports suggest that the search continues for the remaining 13 people who are missing. (ILKHA)
