KILIS - ​People of Kilis, which has been target of bullets and mortars, have been living in dread since the beginning of Syrian civil war.

While the civil war in Syria, started in 2011, has entered its 6th year, rocket projectiles fired from especially from Azez district in Aleppo province in Syria, cause a big fear due to casualties and deaths in Kilis a border city in southeastern of Turkey.

108 thousand populated city of Kilis , hosts 110 thousand of Syrians

While the number of Syrians living in ten cities of Turkey has equalized with the local residents, Kilis is one the foremost cities where the number of refugees has exceeded the local residents of the city. 108 thousand populated city of Kilis hosts 110 thousand of Syrians.

And yet, dwellers in Kilis say that the officials just ty to get a Nobel Prize however they do not take necessary measures to prevent these rockets.

Do rockets target Kilis on purpose?

Being the target of more than 60 rockets in 2016 is mostly considered as not a war accidents but these rockets hit the city are deliberately fired to target Kilis. Especially rockets landing around the state hospital put a question mark in the minds. Most of the rockets hit wastelands; they sometimes hit mosques, schools, houses and military facilities, though.

Some of the city residents think of the rockets hit the hospital quarter are targeting the hospital deliberately that because the wounded rebels are treated there.

In the city where fear and panic have excelled, people expect from authorities to take serious measures. Parents are worried about their children that because sometimes rockets hit the schools, too. That’s why most of the families hold off sending their children to their schools.

Problems at public health has begun to appear in the city

Besides education, problems in public health have begun to appear. After a rocket landed Hospital quarter, some of the doctors launched a work stoppage that led another problem in the city. Moreover, the children at first a lot of compatriots have begun to suffer from psychological problems.  

The main reason of people’s reaction is being forgotten amid war and chaos by authorities. In addition to this there are serious setbacks due to ongoing civil war in Syria in education, healthcare, security, business and employment which are not being tackled in sincere by authorities. People fear from continuation of rocket assaults which may be followed with major attacks that would deepen the problems.  (ILKHA)
